Today we travelled from Shanghai to Xiamen, where we will be staying for the next 4 weeks. We were up bright and early to head to the train station which closely resembled an airport. After waiting around at the station for a couple hours, we finally boarded the bullet train. It was very spacious and clean! It took us around 5 hours to arrive in Xiamen, so traveling took up most of our day. The second we stepped off the train the first thing everyone noticed was the humidity which was at 99% today! The "feels like" was at 107 degrees and it is only expected to get hotter in the coming days. From what we've seen so far, Xiamen is a beautiful coastal city and pretty modern.
After arriving in Xiamen, we had dinner at a local restaurant and headed to our dorms at Xiamen university. By the time we reached our dorms, it was already around 8pm so after we got into our rooms, we just showered and settled in. Tomorrow we have our official welcome to the university as well as our first language class (yay!).
