Learn how to make your own scrunchie in just a few, easy steps.
You will need:
- fabric of your choice
- elastic
- scissors
- a safety pin
- fabric glue or sewing materials
Step 1: Cut your fabric into a strip that measures about 24" long and 4" wide. Almost any type of fabric can be used for this project! I even used some fabric left over from an old pair of jeans. You just want to make sure it is comfortable enough to wear!
Step 2: Fold your strip of fabric in half lengthwise. You want to fold it so that the side of the fabric you want on the outside of the scrunchie, is inside (If the sides of the fabric are they same, don't worry about this). Glue or sew down the fold to make a tube.
Step 3: Turn this tube inside out so that the right side of the fabric is facing out.
Step 4: Cut a piece of elastic about 8" long and attach a safety pin to one end.
Step 5: Use that safety pin to guide the elastic through the entire length of the tube. Just remember to keep the tail end of the elastic sticking out on one end.
Step 6: Remove safety pin and glue or sew together the ends of the elastic.
Step 7: Fold one end of the tube inwards about an inch.
Step 8: Tuck the unfolded end of your tube inside the folded end.
Step 9: Finish your scrunchie by gluing or sewing the two ends of the tube together.
